Is it a bad installation or what ?

Inventor LT 2014 installed as part of AutoCad LT 2014 suite.

OS Windows 7 Pro.

 help.autodesk.com/view/INVLT/2014/ENU/?guid=GUID-59347F0C-D59B-40A9-8AB8-0CAC5BDBCC75

I wanted to start  a new Project in Inventor LT and followed the help instructions from Autodesk help for Inventor 2014 LT .

In the active application window, click Manage Projects. In the project editor, click New.

The  /Manage item is greyed out.

Sounds simple enough but I have searched and found no help iusues that are even similar.

Did I get a bad installation or what ?

Do you have any files open when you do this (you cannot change Projects while a file is open).

I closed everything and restarted my system. I'm sure there are no files open.

The menu item  /Manage is still greyed and can't be accessed.

Where does a customer go from here. ?

I even tried the On Line chat at the Online Autodesk Store and asked where I

could buy ($$$) help,  but the agent told me to contact the reseller.

I purchased directly from AutoDesk and I can't find any way to contact them !

This is a pitiful mess.

Another person replied that the feature may not be abvailable

in Inventor LT ! In which case why is it mentioned in the AutoDesk Help file ?

Short of un installing and re-installing (a second time) I can't think of anything that I can do to make this work.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks... However the link I posted (just add the h t t p : // w w w . ) is from the Inventor LT 2014 Help file.

Why would they talk about it there and then not provide the feature ?

I have seen several places where a feature is flagged as Not avilable in Inventor LT but this feature is not flagged that way.

Do you really need a Project?

Create a folder for your work and make sure the files get saved there.

From "Mastering Autodesk Inventor 2014 and Autodesck Inventor LT 2014" by  Curtis Waguespack

Looks like DarrenP is correct.

So that also means I cannot trust the AutoDesk Inventor 2014 LT  help files because they are wrong on this point means they are most likely wrong on lots of other things also.

I suspect Autodesk does not give-a-dam as they will simply refer to some leagl mumbo jumbo to avoid responsibility for wasteing a persons life.

This is a pitful mess.

I'm sure most most (all) of the help related to features that are common to both products is correct.

You should check the matrix for the different functionality between the two products:

LT

No assemblies (but you can do mult-body solid), sheet metal....

Mistakes happen.  Its a fact of life, we all do it.  If a problem is found with the help, its best to report it or get clarification here first.  For the most part, the help files *are* correct.
