Inventorview and double clicking to open

Inventor View is installed on 5 user PC's without any other Autodesk software installed. It is used to open and print Inventor drawing files. The files are located on the server. When you double click on the drawing to open it gives you an error. It says "Could not find L:(inventor drawing name) in database". If you open Inventor view and browse to the file it opens no problem. It used to work in Inventor View 2011 and stopped working in Inventor View 2012 and 2013 We need to be able to open files by double clicking because we sometimes have to print up to 80 drawings a day and the operators who are printing the drawings use windows indexing to find the files. They do not know where these files are so this is the easiest way to do it because of the complex and long BOM names given to parts. Opening up Inventor View and searching for files and then opening them is not an option as it would severely slow down the production of the users. Have you heard of this?

The computer with Inventorview on are running windows XP 32 BIT SP3.

Kind Regards Edmund

It seems that you have also submitted this as a service request to us. A collague is working on this issue currently and will give a response when he has a solution.

Has a this issue been resolved?  What is the fix?

We ended up writing our own .reg file to enter the extensions into the registry for 2012/2013
