Inventor shutting down when you start a new drawing....

I am running Inventor 6, and I am having problems. Suddenly now, everytime I open Inventor and try to start a new .ipt file, it just shuts down the entire program. If there is anyone out there that can tell me what I have to do to make this not happen, it would be appreciated! Thanks!

What has changed about the machine? new software, patches, updates,
drivers, etc. ? What are the system specs?

I did a Windows update on the laptop...... The specs on the computer are fine, because it worked before I did the update. I did a system restore to before i did the update, and i have taken Inventor off, then got rid of all mentions of it in my registry, and then reloaded it, and it still does the same thing..... I am very confused and frustrated! 🙂

Was the system restore from a point before or after IV was working? Are
you removing just the Inventor registry entries or the Autodesk registry
entries?

The system restore would only let me go to a point of the first Windows Update that I did on Sept. 1 (wouldn't let me go into August to get what it was befre then). Inventor worked up until I did that update, then i didn't use it until the last couple days. I removed all mentions of Inventor, Autodesk, Autocad, and Volo from the registry in regedit. Thanks for your assistance.... my email is kkaluf@kv.k12.in.us if you can help that way....

Thanks

I don't work with laptops, so I am not sure what impact the system
restore would have on IV operation. At this point I would probably do a
reformat and install everything fresh. Hopefully someone that uses a
laptop regularly has some other ideas.
