Inventor UCS / WCS

A colleague designed a part within an assy.  The part is not aligned with the WCS triad and is causing dimensioning issues in the IDW file.  We are not having any luck realigning the part to the WCS or visa versa.  Can anyone give us some guidance on this issue.

Can you attach the file here?

Here is the inventor part file, would like to get WCS and Work Plane3 aligned so that the longer run of pipe is along the X axis.

IF the part is not currently constrained to the Assembly origin, you can apply three 3D constraint mates to realign:

In the assembly file, Mate/Mate the XY part origin to the XY assembly file origin, Mate/Mate the YZ part origin to the YZ assembly file origin, then Mate/Mate the XZ part origin to the XZ assembly file origin. Update your cionstraints, then GROUND that part. You can then remove the three costraints you just placed.

No need to post parts.

Is there some reason you don't just align the views iside the IDW to give you what you need since you said it is causing IDW problems?  When placing the view I would just click the button to change view orientation and then align to workplane 3.

the views in teh IDW are fine, but when he adds diemsions to the geometry the geometry either doies not show at all, or it will give a dimension at an obscure angle.  Must change diemsnion to display on the sheet plane but then dimension does not always attach to the geometery properly.

Need to changes orientation of part in the IPT file since it is already constarined properly to the Assembly.

Keep the ideas coming:)
