Inventor Certification - Book

I ran across a spot on the web site that discusses Inventor Certification. It costs $100 to take the test. Have any of you looked into this? Is it worth the time and cost? There is also a book ($30). Is it any good?

Are you referring to the test that resellers have to take to get ASC status
(as opposed to just VAR status)?  I've taken MANY an Autodesk certification
test - for Inventor, Mechanical Desktop, and AutoCAD.  they are
grueling.  I think you have to get 85% or better to pass.

Speaking of books, what is the best reference
manual out there for Inventor?

The book in question is The Autodesk Inventor 7 Certification Exam Preparation Manual by Banach and Jones. Autodesk Press ISBN 1-4018-5050-2

This certification is intended for individuals, not VARs.

I agree this site is the best resource.

Also try Using Autodesk Inventor 6 by Ron Cheng ISBN 1-4018-2713-6 or Autodesk Inventor by James Leake ISBN 0-07-282205-8. I review probably every book out there and I prefer the Cheng book.

I would not call any of the books out there a
reference manual.  They all are what I would call training manuals or
tutorials. Some don't even have indexes, just a table of contents.  So good
luck trying to find exactly what you want fast.

I have taken the test and passed.  You do need
an 85% or better to pass.  The test is about 4 hours long.

The test is $195 if you take it at AU and $495 if
you take it at other times.  To my knowledge only the update test (to
become current in the latest release) is $100.

I have copies of these books and they are a pretty
good reference.

Brian (or anyone else)

Do you know where I can get the books/guides for the AutoCAD exam?

I need the AutoCAD2004 User Guide and
also the AutoCAD 2004 Product Support Guide.

I already asked in the AutoCAD NG, but got nothing.

TIA

Rui

However, you will receive a copy when you sign up to take the test. It's
part of the $495 fee.

Testing will be done in person at proctor centers.
