Inventor Assembly Copy / Paste components Problem

I am working in an assembly file. Our company just upgraded to 2014.

I cannot copy / paste components by selecting on screen anymore, or by using the command on the ribbon.

Is there a solution for this matter?

Hi,

Thank you for reproting your findings.

This issue has been known as DID 1498780 in our product database.

Development has identified the cause of the issue and made some code changes.

(It's not reproducible with a recent internal test build any more)

Thank you,

Good Morning Sami,

How do we go about resolving the issue if it is occuring at our site?  Should we submit a support request through our subscription account?  Please advise.

Thanks.

Hi,
I don’t think filing a new request is necessary.
The code change we made in our internal test builds will be available in a coming update/service pack.
Thank you,

Thank you. Is there a date by which this service pack will be made
available? Is there a workaround that tech support can suggest? This
issue is holding up project work.

Thanks,
Rohit

At this time, full details are not available in terms of release date of update/service-pack.
The issue happens when the component path (folder\...\file) + occurrence information is too long.
Possible workaround would be:
* Move the whole project to a shallower path, or
* Edit the X, Y, Z Offset of the two occurrences via iProperties -> Occurrence and change them to all 0
Hoe this helps

What is it that you're trying to do that you can't and is holding up your project? Maybe we can figure out a workaround.

I am creating a structure that uses multiple instances of the same
component.
Typically, I would just select the component on the screen, right click,
copy and the pick a space in space to paste.

If I have another assembly within the assembly and I put my selection on
part priority and do the steps above it works.
But any component residing in the current assembly file cannot be
duplicated without placing the component again.

However, if I open the component in another window, then select the
component name from the top of the browser, right click, copy, then
window over to the assembly I can place it.

This is obviously a glich.

I spoke with my IT department and not all the Inventor users are having
this issue. Some can copy paste in the same assembly file.

Has this issue been resolved? Is there an update fix yet?

I can't copy any components in inventor assemblies ... really annoying

Cheers,

Ben
