Inventor 6 & Norton Anivirus 2003 Pro Tweaks

Looking for ways to make Inventor run faster I started messing with our
antivirus program. At first I turned off the real-time file protection this
increased the speed of loading an assembly file by 50%. Next I turned the
real-time file protection back on but excluded IAM, IPT, IDW, IDV file
types. It had a increase of 25% from having the antivirus on full blown. Has
anyone else tried this? Is it safe to exclude these file types? Does anyone
know anymore file types to exclude or other tweaks.

Thanks,

Shawn Knisley

Start Norton then go to Configure>Real Time System Protection and uncheck the "Enable file system realtime protection" box.

Well it depends on the version of Norton antivirus you are running.

If you are running 2003 Pro click Start -> Programs -> Symantec Client Security -> Symantec Antivirus Client. Once started click Configure -> File System Real-time Protection -> Uncheck Enable file system real-time protection.

If you are running the regular version right click on the Norton Antivirus icon in the task bar -> disable real-time protection.

Thanks,

option.
