Inventor 2015: Derived part crash (multiple instances)

Several of my derived parts will no longer open.

(I am, however, able to open assembly's that contain the derived part).

anyone else have this issue?

Hi,

Inventor crashes every time I open the '___i' part.  I have experienced corupted derived parts in 2015 (and 2014) that could not be recovered but not a crash straight to desktop before.  I have always reported the problem and hopefully Autodesk create fix in next service pack but have had to just bite the bullet and recreate all affected parts each time and cross fingers, frequently backup and hope it doesnt happen again.

regards,

Hugh

As it turns out, it's not only derived parts that are having this problem. It does appear to be isolated to parts that were imported from other CAD packages.

(not all imported parts have this issue)

crashes to desktop, no option or error reporting.

Hi! The behavior is not normal. Did you submit crash report when it happened? If yes, could you send me an email (johnson.shiue@autodesk.com)? I need to look into the report and see where the problem is.

Thanks!

Hi! Did you have reproducible corruption cases? If yes, did you report to anybody at Autodesk? Could you send me the detail of your prior reports? I would like to understand the situation better and make sure all options had been exhausted.

Thanks!

Inventor does not generate a crash report.

I have 100's of files like this. Needless to say, this is a disaster.

I sent files (13MB) to your email. Let me know if you received.

I can reproduce this crash in R2015 + Update1without CER dialog when loading the attached derived part, but not reproducible on latest R2015 SP1 internal build. Please have a try when SP1 build is released.

Thanks,

When will SP1 be available?
Message 9 of 19

SP1 is planned for mid-September.

How many others are seeing similar crashing without the ability to submit a CER ?

Thanks

Chris

we have at least seven users here that have the problem.

Message 11 of 19

This is under investigation to see if it can be hot-fixed prior to SP1.

Sorry for the inconvenience,

Hi! The crash you are encountering might be a different issue. Did you send in crash reports? If yes, could you send me an email? I would like to follow up with your separately.

Many thanks!

I don't have a CER Report just the Windows message when an application crash.

I have already an autodesk support case for this problem, i'll keep you inform.

Thanks!

Could you tell me the Case ID?

Thanks!

Sorry, my bad, the HOTFIX Hotfix INV19022 did the trick and solved the problem.

I though it was the update 2.

Sorry, and thanks for the hotfix.
