Inventor 2014 cannot selectively import AutoCAD DWG files

Hello,

I have been having problems importing DWG files into Inventor. The selective import does not work at all. However, I can import simple DWG files. Importing complex DWG ones seem to cause Inventor simply to crash.

I have read the forums here and none of the solutions suggest were effective for me. i.e.

  • I have uninstalled and reinstalled TrueView.
  • I have tried to register with RegSvr32 the acctrl.dll file, etc...
  • I have tried to wipe all my user settings
  • I have tried to run inventor.exe /install

 Please help!

If you can import simple sketches, but not complex ones - it sounds like a constraint issue.

What happens if you turn off the creation of constraints?

What happens if you convert to block in AutoCAD and to an Inventor Sketch Block.

Hi DaveC_ ,

To support what JDMather suggested, have a look at the Paste Options described at this link:

http://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2015/ENU/?guid=GUID-F7601F0D-21B8-4746-B37D-A80429CA73E2

These options are used when you Copy from AutoCAD and Paste in Inventor, rather than using Inventor's DWG import wizard.

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis
