Inventor 2013 missing parts

I was making some pieces in Inventor 2013, and a lot of them had similar bases, so I would just use the derive button when I started a new piece, and just make changes to the old piece. I later saved the files as .stl 's to print them in the 3D printer. when the computer hooked up to the 3D printer brought up the pieces, the parts I had derived from the origional were missing. Does anyone know why this happened or how I could fix it easily?

Can you attach an example Derived part here?

Did you derive as a solid body or as surface body?

HI!

You save as STL, but you save them as ipt?

The parts would be all in the same folder by default.

Regards.
