I want to insert simple JPEG images into IDW drawings but the button for images is grey and cant be used.
I tried in sketch mode but it is the same grey button
Seriously is this not available???
Or whats the "trick" to insert a simple image?

don't ask me why it's greyed out, but I agree, it's very weird (and frustrating)...
2 options:
1) Insert Object (in Manage ribbon) - use that to insert a Paintbrush Picture (or whatever you find works best)
2) create a new symbol (symbol button in Define group of Manage ribbon) - here you can use the traditional insert image button. Place your image in the symbol and finish the sketch, giving the symbol a name. Switch to the Annotate ribbon and click the "user" button in the Symbol section, select the name you've just saved and place the new image symbol in the idw.
Hope that helps.

Thanks it works!
But very poor of Autodesk not to have this simple function as a standard buttom.
I can se a big use of adding pictures into drawings.
Infact "drag & drop" function for pictures or other files into a Drawing should be standard these days.
How is this coming along?
Hi! The image can be inserted to title block definition sketch but not directly to drawing sketch or draft view.
Many thanks!
No it does not.
Read the tread from the beginning. You can only place an image into a drawing by the "insert object" command and a bunch of clicks.
Once you figure it it it works but an unusual procedure
Most other programs you can either "drag & drop" an image or "copy paste"
you can't really insert .pdf's that well, just doesn't mesh, looks really blurry. I'm looking at doing some programming as a workaround to call a 3rd party program and have it print the pdf to my production system.
