Importing into Adobe Illustrator

Is it possible to import an Inventor file or save it as something, so that it can be imported into Illustrator?

Thanks

3d model or 2d drawing?
Illustrator can import dwg's, but what are you trying to get into illustrator?
Shaded (isometric) views are turned into bitmaps which isn't great if you want vector graphics, so be prepared to recolor your models with illustrator's tools.

I only know how to do it from a drawing file.  Export your drawing as a PDF and Illustrator will import it as vector graphics.
