Hi to all.
I have this problem.
I have Inventor 2012 with service pack1 installed, OS windows 7 64bit.
With the same file i have no message error with Inventor 2011.
With Inventor 2012, inside the Simulation Enviroment i have tried to convert constrains using the relative command, between two parts, but on the second click on the second part it comes out this message :"Both parts are the same! ". (in attached a screenshot).
With Inventor 2011 i have no problem, so i am wondering "Is it a inventor 2012 bug?"
Thanks for support,
pompeo

I'm not sure what that means?
Looks like the Younis files - can you attach the assembly here?
Hi JD, thanks for support! I really appreciate that.
Yes Younis Files!
With Inventor 2012 (SP1 installed):
-open Slider-mechanism.iam
-enter Simulation Enviroment
-convert constraints(FIG1) > select bracket:1, then arm 1:1 >>
>>>message window : "Both parts are the same ! " (FIG2)
With Inventor 2011 (SP2 installed):
-open Slider-mechanism.iam (exactly the same of before)
-enter Simulation Enviroment
-convert constraints(fig1) > select bracket:1, then arm 1:1 >>
>>> all perfect as it would be (FIG3)
Thanks again to hel me to clarify this doubt,
Pompeo
p.s. for the dimension (zipped they are more than 1.5 Mb) i have to upload parts and assembly files in 2 posts.
Hi Pompeo,
Unfortunately, this is a known issue with R2012_SP1 which has been logged in our system as 1411643. It has to do with the Simulation setting "Automatically Convert Constraint to Standard Joints".
There is a workaround:
1) Turn off this setting
2) Select "Yes" to the message "Maintain Standard Joints automatically created from Assembly Constraints?"
3) You will no longer get the error with the Convert Constraints command
Note: If you selected "No" in step 2) you will see the error.
We apologize for the inconvenience this is causing.
Best regards, -Hugh
