Hi all,
We have countersunk screws in our content center but not all of it's IMates work. At insertion we have to select the hole to make it concentric and then it should ask to mate the under head shape to the matching csk in the part. But it does not go further than the first IMate. Why is that?
I tried to fix it but nothing seems to work out, but I should say that I'm not familiar with IMates. I can see in the properties of the IMates in the Match List box some information but I don't know what it is and if I need to write a name in there.
Thanks,
One iMate is all that should be required. If you saved the CC as a Custom Part you should be able to edit the part and look at the iMates. You may need to all Inventor time to cycle though the possible connections to get to the one that matches your needs.
A single iMate at the base of the screw head and to the bottom of the countersink is all that should be needed.
Hello Blair,
I did not build the fasteners library, so if something works I leave it as is. I guess that a few things could be simplfied or done differently. But I don't want to be blammed for changing stuff since i'm not an expert.
I made a screen capture of the setting for our csk screws, see attached. The only step working is selecting the interior of the hole to make the screw concentric. Then I have no choice but to apply and after I can constraint the head myself.
I don't understand the signification of the names in the match list box. Is the problem there? What about the second IMates, what is it's purpose?
Thanks,
Depending on which iMate you select you can mate in different ways. When you do the "ALT" all three will show up. You can then choice which mate to use depending on your final result. You can either mate the head flush with the top of your countersink, or the middle to the bottom of your counter sink or the lower one in your hole.
Most work would be the middle item mating the base of the fastener head to the bottom of the counter-sink.
