IDW file format update to all my old idw files

Hi,

I am user for Inventor 2013 Professional.

1 year ago i created a format for my idw template file. I set many things under Drawing Resources in browser.Sheet Formats, Borders, Title Blocs, Sketch Symbols... etc. Now we want to change something in this resources and i will create new one.

My question is if i create new one, then can i update all new formats to my old idw files? I mean, i can't open all of old files and i can't change one by one. I want to do in easy way.

Thanks.

i think there's a way to save your old files to 2013.

Have you looked at the: "Drawing Resource Transfer Wizard" that is shipped and installed with Inventor. It's located within the Inventor>Toold of the Start Menu

I solved my problem with Drawing Resource Transfer Wizard. I did'nt see till now this wizard under start menu.

Just one point; if your files saved with different inventor version then this wizard couldn't succes to convert. Then you should to open your old file with your inventor and you have to save again with new version. Then Wizard work.

Thank you very much to all of your helps. Thanks.

If your files need to be migrated, use the Task Scheduler, also in the Start menu.  You can set up a Migrate task for a project or folder, or select individual files.

If you have any custom material/appearances, migrate them first. Good documents on the Autodesk website. I follow the following procedure when migrating.

1.) Have a good copy of your data. We have all data stored to a external USB drive. This is much easier to recover than having to restore from a Back-Up.

2.) Run the Task Scheduler and migrate all IPT's first

3.) Run the Task Scheduler and migrate all IAM's next

4.) Run the Task Scheduler and migrate all IPN's third

5.) Run the Task Scheduler and migrate all IDW's last

Blair, good point about the material/appearance migration.

As for the file migration, my experience with Task Scheduler is that it performs the migrations in the proper order, so you don't have to do it four times.
