How to remove a piece from object

I have this obect (see attached IPT) with a piece that is cut off from the main object but I can't figure out how to remove it (the piece in the top left in front view).

I see that Blair has already replied.... but a another way to remove this is to use the "Delete Face" command.

From the Surface panel, pick delete face.  Change from the "Individual faces" to the "Select Lump or Void".  Pick the part you want to remove... Done.

No work planes to create, no extrusion command.... Simple.
