How to edit qty field in BOMs ?

I've been meaning to air this one for a while, but not got around to it.

In a partslist, where you call up items like hose, glue wire etc, you want
the qty field to either include units (2 metres, inches etc) or a/r (as
required) for things like glue or grease.

What do other folk do about this?

tia,
John

How are you adding things like glue etc. If in the parts list I select Add row I am able
to enter what ever I want in the Qty field. And then just use the custom option on
placing balloons if you need them.

Thanks. Yes, that works, but I would rather have dummy parts though, that
you can drop into an assembly for such items. That way, you can just scroll
through the library, find the right glue/grease and drop it in (with it
appearing A/R in the qty field). For cables and hoses I drop in a short
length, then make the parts list entry invisible and drop in a custom with
the length entry but it seems a bit kludgy somehow.
