How to create a spring with variable pitch and diameter.

Hello,

I am trying to create a spring that has a section where both the diameter and pitch are changing with respect to length. The first section of the spring is a simple constant pitch constant diamter example. That section is .2" in length with a diameter of .25" and a pitch of .1". The next section is more difficult. At the beginning of this section, .2",the pitch is .1" and the diamter is .25".At the end of this section,.6", the pitch is .08" and the diameter is .215". After this the spring has a final section where is has a constant diameter of .215" and the pitch goes from .08" to .03" over the length .6" to 1.6".

I have been trying to create this using the equation curve feature in a 3D sketch but have not been able to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi!

What a messy explanation!!!

So:

first section:

Length:      0.2

Diameter:  0.25 (constant)

Pitch:         1

2nd section:

Length:

START

Diameter:    0.25

Pitch:          1

ENDS

Diameter:

Pitch:          0.8

3th section:

Lengh:

START

Diameter:

ENDS

Ups..... I'm lost

I'm sure you can adapt the workflow demonstrated here to achieve what you're after:
