How to check which assemblies a part file references

I was wondering is there is a way to select an Inventor part file and see which assembly file or files that is is currently used in ? It would be extremely useful to be able to see a list of all the assembly files which are using one particular part so when modifying the part you would know which assemblies would change.

Vault would be the best way to do that.

Thank you very much for the reply, I'm sorry I forgot to mention I do not currently use Vault, I was wondering if there was a way to do this for non-Vault users ? Thanks

In Design Assistant/Tools/Find/Where Used

You can use this. Beware

Only use this on Small Folder sturcture. If you scan a large folder sturcture it will take a week to find files.

I don't use it, But it's there to use.

Thanks, could you post a screen shot of where this option is, I can't seem to find the 'where used' option is ?

Like Doug said, be real careful where you use this, it literally could take days to run.

I am having trouble displaying the results from the search, it tells me 2 files found but does not display the details of the locations of the files etc. Please can you tell me how to do this ? (Screen shot attached)

It probably found a file of the type you did not have checked off.

Not sure why it would show 2 files, but not list them in the bottom window.
