How can I stop assembly parts from moving through each other?

Is there some sort of constraint or option I can use?

I have an assembly and part of it slides back and forth, but there are blocks on each end that would stop the sliding part once it hits it in the real world, which is what I want to happen in the assembly. Any ideas?

Select the moving parts & the blocks and make them a contact set. This should meet your expectation.

Once you create the Contact Set you must also turn on the Contact Solver.

The usual practice is to verify the desired contact behavior and then turn off the Solver to speed up assembly environment operations.

If it's only a simple movement like linear sliding, I'd prefer setting a mate or flush constraint with limits.

Otherwise right-click on part or sub-assy in Part Browser or graphics area, and place a hook on Contact Set.

For activation of the Contact Solver, click Inspect tab on the ribbon  Interference panel Activate Contact Solver

You have posted in a very old thread.

The software has changed.

What version of Inventor are you using?

Can you attach your assembly here?
