Hole Notes

Hole Notes

I like that I can now create custom hole
notes.  However, is it true that I cannot create more than one type of note
for a specific hole?  For example, let's use a simple thru hole.
Often that hole would be a simple drill thru (which is what my note is set up
for).  However, sometimes we'll put a threaded fastener into that hole, so
I would need a note to call that out.  I realize that I can edit the custom
note I created, but I'd practically be retyping the whole thing.

Did that make sense?  Those of you that came
from MDT... you can create holenotes there to your heart's content... you can
have any number of notes for a single hole type, and you can pick the one you
need.  It appears that you can't do that in inventor.  Is that indeed
the case?

One more question... the default leader attachment
point for the holenotes is UPPER left or right.  Our standards are middle
of all text.  It appears that you can't control the attachment point on
holenotes (I do realize that you can change it after placement, but it's an
extra step). Can the default attachment point be changed?  Perhaps thru the
registry?

Thanks in advance for the help.  I'm
evaluating Inventor for a possible switch from MDT, and these things all play a
part in determining whether or not we switch.

It appears to me that we still only have one template per hole type. 8^(

And if you figure out how to get your leader to the middle let me know because mine goes
to the middle and I want it at the top At least we know it can be where we want 8^)

Haven't tried it but if you format a text style to have top, middle or
bottom justification and then specify this text to be used in a dimension
style it should justify in this manner...

That's right ... I use it all the time: the middle button in the
justification line of icons has Top, Middle and Bottom.

That was it 8^)... My dimension style for some reason was set to

You know I find the three dialogs.... Standards, Dimension styles, and Text to tied to
each other. It just seems like every time I make a change I end up going through all
three dialogs and hunting. Maybe I just haven't used them enough yet, but their layout
has always seemed off to me.

I agree. The way you have to set up one to then use it in the other is a
bit confusing at first..then once you figure it out you don't change it for
so long that by the time you go back to change it again you've forgotten how
to do it...(now I sound like Larry)
