Get Model Dimensions into table parametrically?

Hi Guys,

Is there any way to get parametric model dims into a custom table like you
can into dimension text?

Thanks
Brian

Yes. In your parameters dialog box, rename those Dims and mark them for
export. This creates custom iProperties which are stored within the part.

Then in the IDW or DWG file, go to Format - Styles and Standard Editor and
create a new parts list style that can be formatted just the way you want
it.

After you've created your parts list style, place your parts list in the 2-D
drawing, right mouse button on the parts list to edit the parts list, and
simply add the columns that you need. See attached example.

You have forgotten to mention that after the exporting parameters to
iProperties Custom tub you have to open that tub and change format of each
parameter to "Numbers". That will remove the trailing zeros and unit
definition for each custom parameter in the Parts List.

Thanks Dennis,

I want those dims in an actual "Table" not in the parts list, is this is
possible?

If your using 2009, then you format your parameters using the parameters window, not the custom iProperties. RMB the row and choose numbers or text, precision, leading/trailing zeros. Selecting number no longer truncates the parameter and the precision is independently controlled.
Please mark as "Accept as Solution" if it answers your question or "Kudos" if you found it useful.

Actually you're simply using the parts list command to create a separate
table which is formatted completely different than your regular parts list.
By creating a separate parts list style, your original parts list format is
preserved.

It's just a table.

I am working on similar thing what you just mentioned in the post. What I am trying is inserting an excel sheet which contain an table with parameters from IPT.
Click insert then object and Microsoft Excell worksheet in the drawing environment . Then add your table it will be inserted in the idw.

Well yeah I know the parts list is just a table but...., thing is I have a
very complex idw that already has a parts list on it, and a very time
consuming and complex inventor table using (surprise!) the "Table" command,
I just want to add a few model parameters to finish it (which I didnt think
of till I was almost finished).
If the Parts List table is basically the same as the table table then I just
thought they might both have the same feature set, I could set up a new
partslist and try to copy-paste the info over but for now I might just type
the info in manually.

Thanks Guys
Brian
