Frame generator

I have a problem with frame genarator.

I do a sketch and then use frame generator to generate a frame with RHS 50x50x3. On this I mate another part with surfaces. If I then change size on my RHS to for example 80x80x4 my assembly mates crashes.

Is i possible to change my RHS without lose my mates to the other part?

No, because when you change your member size frame generator actually creates a new part. This si done because there is the possibility that there is downstream edits to the particular memeber - and rather than deleting the member (and its features) from disk, they replace the member.

(Edited) Cory is probably right - If you have constraints external to the FG Assembly, then you will probably lose them. However, if you lose more than 3, then you need to re-evaluate your assembly techniques.

Yes. But you have to use FG properly.

1. Create an assembly file.

2. Create a part file within the the active assmply.

3. Create an skeletal model in the part file. Save and return to assembly level.

4. At the top level , add the frame members. No need to apply constraints.

5. Edit frame members using "Edit with Frame Generator" from the right click members.

All of this is in the help files.
