File won't close

Here is an interesting one. In R9 we close an assembly. It prompts us to
save the file. We save Yes. It saves but does not close. You can do this
as many times as you want but the file will not close.

If you say NO the files closes. (We all held our breath as we reopened it
to find that it really did save those other times).

Not a huge deal but we are seeing it on one machine in particular.

That is the one thing I do not like about working for a Japanese firm. They do NOT believe in any type of flex time regardless of what it is you do. I meant I could the majority of my work from home and would probably be a lot more productive since I would not have to get up 10+ times a day to help some other Eng do something in IV.

The files are not saving...

OK, just to prove that I'm not crazy (I know I'd think I was) see this video
capture. I place a part in the assy to dirty it. Then I save. The save
does not take place. I then try to close the file and it does not want to
close. Once I click NO you'll see it closes but the files was not saved.

THIS IS A BIG DEAL GUYS. I'd like some attention to this as I cannot trust
this machine.

This is intermittent as sometimes it does save however.

uncompressed, sorry for the large size but I only had one shot at capturing
it)

OK that officially sucks!!!!
I do not believe I have lost any work to this yet but as we all can see Sean can reproduce it.

So what would be the interim workaround? Would a "save copy as" capture the work done? Then open the new one and save copy as over the old? How dirty is THAT work flow!!!

OK, this is a different issue than the one I was describing. I have
not seen it myself so far.

All,

I wanted to post an update on the status of the issue reported by Sean. We
have acquired his dataset and video of the save behavior and currently have
members from a number of teams working to diagnose the cause.

To clarify, this thread has covered two different topics: the dialog which
prompts you to save dependent documents (which Matthias described), and the
single-file save prompt for the top-level assembly (which Sean described).
As far as I know, the issue that Sean and his colleague encountered is
isolated to their computer systems. If anyone else has seen this issue,
please post any details you have to the newsgroup.

I'll be sure to relay all relevant newsgroup posts to the developers doing
the investigation. Thank you for your patience while we investigate this
issue.

At the risk of saying what I probably say too often: seems to me like it's a system problem. As I said before, I was on a far'ly rickety machine before I got this new one and what your seeing was a regular occurrence. I lost a lot of stuff. Haven't seen it once on my new system.

We have since completely uninstalled, defragged, kissed the CPU scarified a
chicken then reinstall Iv and both SPs. Seems like it's
working now.

Scary however. Now we don't trust the save button. We keep checking the
modified time stamp on the assy file.

Thought you knew Sean gave up his English major before he got that far into it in favor of engineering.

I know that everyone does this, but do you delete your temp files and defrag
on a regular basis? Temps have a nasty way of srewing up files.
