Failed to edit dimension value, IV2010 Pro

Greetings.

I am developing a spreadsheet-driven template.  I have created the spreadsheet and have attempted, several times, to embed the spreadsheet into my .ipt file.  Each time I get the message "Failed to edit dimension value".  Interestingly, I created a similar template in IV2009 Pro with no issues.  I searched this site, AutoDesk's hotfixes, F1 Help.  I even restarted Inventor, then rebooted my machine.  No joy.  Anyone have an idea what the problem might be?

Not sure if this is an issue we are aware of or not? I would suggest creating a support request on line for this if you are on subscription, if not make your reseller aware of this so they can log it with us.

I am not sure if i understand this issue completely. You want to create and external driven excel spreadsheet for a template, then embed it into the template. In my mind this defeats this purpose of the external driven spreadsheet or how I am interpreting this. it is possible that this worked in 2009 and not in 2010. When 2015 is rolled out 2012 will be the last supported release so there really is not any support for the 2010 version,

Apologies for allowing my frustrations to defer in your direction.

And, many thanks for your response (so very unexpected, and appreciated).

I am actually using 2014Pro and have successfully linked a spreadsheet to
several created parts. They worked perfectly, but now, when I make a
change to the spreadsheet, the change doesn't carry over in several cases,
even after selecting the local update button several times. I deleted the
link and re-established it and this is when I get the error message.

failed to edit dimension value

I then deleted the new link, deleted all referenced geometry and related
parameters, reset the link to the spreadsheet with the new values
(receiving the same error message) and noted that the new parameter list
still showed the old values. I redrew the geometry just to check and the
old values appeared from the parameter list.

I am a new user and am probably missing something simple. After several
attempts to find the answer on various forums including autodesk, all I
came up with was this (very old) inquiry with no solution posted.

Thank you for your reply, and again, sorry for my harshness.

The best way to get a solution is to post the dataset that exhibits this behavior.

There are so many variables (literally) involved that I don't think a problem like this can be solved without seeing the actual files.

Attached are three (reply won't allow more) files.

The spreadsheet, and two parts exhibiting the symptoms previously described.

Thanks for any help you may offer.

Your part sketches are poorly modeled.

I didn't go any further in trying to diagnose any other problems.

Fully define sketches.

Pattern features rather than sketch entities.

I recommend you go throug these

After 4 years, my memory of this issue is a little clouded.  I think what I was trying to do was create bent tubes using a spreadsheet.  No matter though, I was able to make my spreadsheet and have it drive my tubes.
