FLAT PATTERN BLANK

I am making a plate that needs formed to an arc with perforated holes through out. When I make the flat pattern the holes are distorted and I don't get true circles. It would appear that they are more ellipses than anything else. Currently to fix this problem I must convert the flat pattern to a AutoCAd dwg. and redraw circles to get the desired blank. How can I make these cuts so they appear as a circle when the part is laid flat. Is their a way that I can draw my cuts in the flat pattern? I want to attach the file but it won't let me even though it is below 1.5MB what must I do to attach files.

In the browser you will see a red End of Part marker. Drag it all the way to the top of the browser. If it gives you a warning about flat pattern ignore the warning.
In Windows right click on the file name and select Send to Compressed (zipped) folder. Attach the resulting *.zip here.

Or F1 Cut across bend.

the only way to do this is to edit the flat pattern after creating it. Even if you were able to make a shape that would become a circle after flattening, inventor would give you (a very large) spline.

if your design intent is to cut circles in the sheet and THEN bend it, you need to work backwards: design the finished part without holes, flatten it, then cut the holes.

until 2008, you had to save the flat pattern as a .sat file and then open it as an ipt to make changes. This breaks associativity. I understand that 2008 will let you make edits to the flat pattern, but they wont show in the finished part. Message was edited by: rblawson

In IV2008, you need to create the hole in flat pattern. We have collected
this issue in our database.

how do I do this? when I have my flat pattern it does not allow me to do anything to the part in its flattened state. I cannot sketch a hole or use the hole command. Is their another option that I do not know about that will enable me to do this?

Well, since you did not specify your version, everyone is assuming that you
are on IV 2008.

sorry I am using Inventor 11. If I understand your picture it looks like I should click flat pattern then right click to get the edit flat pattern definition box. I do not get this option if I do this.

You cannot do this in R11... It's a feature of 2008
