Export to DWG fails-gets DBxBridge message IV 2009 sp1

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
So far I cannot create any Autocad DWG files in inventor 2009 from IDW's.

I was getting a crash right after getting the DBxBridge message (see
attached) so I did a repair on IV 2009.
Now it does not crash but the DWG cannot be created & I still get the
DBxBridge message.

My VAR just suggested repair or reinstall. I really don't want to re-install
if I don't have to.

Yeah this looks like a problem I had recently.
The Autodesk take is that this is a random issue (that they're working on) with the DBxBridge and windows.
To speed up and workaround until they get a fix made, try going to Windows Regional and Language Options in control panel, and change your Region Options to English (United States), then on the Advanced Tab make sure it also says English (United States).

Not a very desirable workaround for those of us outside the US, like me (in Australia). But if it gets the job done...*shrugs* at least until the fix is posted. Hope it helps.

Cheers,

This problem seems to of been around a while.

I can relate it to a particular problem I had with a specific IDW to DWG.

http://discussion.autodesk.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=5954203

It all came down to some hatching on section views, it was quite a complicated

drawing with alot of hatching, but it was only the very fine hatching on the smaller

components that would fail.

Deleting these hatches in the IDW, Save Copy As to DWG then put the hatches back

in with AutoCAD got round it.

We're now being more selective on our large / complicated section views with regards

to hatching.

Are you strating with complicated IDWs.? Have you tried any simple tests of the sample

Inventor files.?

Stephan,

My IDW's are not complicated & so far I cannot create any
Acad DWG files from any IDW's in 2009. Some of the IDW files do not have any
hatches so I'm not thinking that's going to help me.

For a work around I can create an Inventor DWG file then open
it in Autocad & save it to 2004 DWG format which my client needs. That seems
to work for now even though it's an extra amount of work.

Looks like this is a bug.

Thanks.

Gary

Melinda,

I am already set to English on language for Windows (San
Francisco, California) so that won't help me unfortunately. Thanks for the tip
though.

Hi all,
I'm hanging out for an Autodesk solution too! I've just got this error again (third time for me) Only way we could get going again was to reinstall all autodesk products on my PC. Uninstalling and reinstalling inventor wasn't enough. I tried Melinda's language get-around without success. Not sure where "Advanced Tab" refered to is? (We are on Vista if it makes a difference).
Come on Autodesk - pull finger!
Nick.

I had cheked my disk with Windows disk-control. After that i had the same error while exporting to dxf. I fixed the problem as follows:
Look for the "DBxbridge.exe" program. I found it at "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2009\Compatibility\Bin"
Double click on it. Some errors occur. The program looks for some DLL's. I was missing the "ac1st17.dll" "acge17.dll" "acdb17.dll". I have copied these files from "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2009\Compatibility\Bin" to the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared" folder. The problem was solved.

Getting the missing DLL messages when you double click DBxBridge directly is normal. You're not executing DBxBridge in the context of Inventor so the pathing is not setup correctly.

Have you tried checking to see if there is already a DBxBridge.exe running (via the Task Manager). Some times an errant version that wasn't shut down can cause issues.

no prior instances of dbxbridge running in the task manager.

when i click "save as" the saveas dialog box pops up, then i click the type drop down and click autocad .dwg and it locks inventor up for 57 seconds

durring that time dbxbridge never shows up in the task manager.

once inv unlocks and i click save it locks up for another 23 seconds before generating the error "problems encountered while saving document"

Hmmmmm. Not sure why I can't get this to happen for me.

Have you had any side by side installs at any point. In other words, have you uninstalled an older version of Inventor since installing 2009?

You might try getting these translation modules to re-register themselves. You can do this by opening a command prompt, going to the folder where "Inventor.exe" is installed, and issuing the following command:

INVENTOR /INSTALL

This might take a couple of minutes. Use the task manager to make sure it's finished before trying it again.

Hello,

I just got the same problem in inventor 2010, reregistering the translation modules fixed it.

Thanks a lot!

Hi,

You can accurately describe how to perform reregistering the translation modules.

I have the same problem and do not know how to solve it.
