If you have version 8a installed, you should uninstall it before you install Autodesk Inventor. Because Flash Player 8 is installed during the Autodesk Inventor installation, you will have a working version. Future Flash Player upgrades should not adversely affect your Autodesk Inventor environment.

Problem is, that does not always work.
I had the exact same issue and it turns out that for some reason, that
particular registry key had deny access across the board to modify it.
So not even the uninstall for macromedia could delete it!
The only way I was able to fix it is as follows:
1 - Start regedit
2 - Find the registry key
3 - Right click the key, select permissions
4 - Click on advanced
5 - Check permissions for your account, make sure they are set to Full
Control, if not...change them to full control.
6 - Check owner of the key, your user account should be listed as
owner
So bottom line, make sure you own the key and make sure you have Full
Control under your current user account.
If to both criterias are met, you should be able to delete the key
manually in regedit. Then go reinstall inventor and it should be just
fine.
