am trying to simululate a hydraulic cylinder between two components (A &
B) with an adaptive line.
I start a new part for the cylinder, make a line
(not constrained to the origin, not horizontal, not vertical). I place a
circle at each end of the line for ease of constraining later. I do not
dimension the length of the line. I make the sketch adaptive. I make the part
adaptive. I constrain one end of the line to part A. I attempt to constrain
the other end of the line to part B, but cannot because the line will not
change length. If the line is adaptive, why won't it change length?
Thanks
for the help

I made two parts one with two sketches and two
workpoints in the air. The other is a line with two workpoints on either
end. The second had an adaptive sketch and the part was adaptive.
It adapted fine when I mated the work points to each other. What happens
if you select the opposite end first? You may have to try different
combinations of points. Part A and Point A, Part B and Point B, Part A
and Point B, etc. Sometimes adaptivity is picky about what you constrain
first. Good luck
