Dimensions color

Question from a customer:

Hello,
I would like to ask how can I change default color of sketch dimensions?

For some reason it was changed and now I cannot see dimensions on white background.

Dimensions colors are controlled by the selected color scheme (options > colors)

Simply change the color scheme will change the dimension color
If user wants to change the colors used in a color scheme he can install the SDK tool  “User Tolls” located in the SDK installation folder.
This set of custom utility includes the Color Scheme Editor that allows user to change the colors of a color scheme.

The reason is to encourage customers that never used forums or don't know about them, to use forums.
If I answer directly to you I don't show you where forums are, how to use them etc..
I cannot know if a customer knows already the forums or not. I don't mention the customer name for privacy reasons.
Do you think this can be an issue for some customer ? If yes I can stop to do it, I am just trying to improve support efficency.
Thanks.

I asked my administrator about installing the user tool SDK. I'd love to see this added to general Inventor settings! I just added dimensions to a sketch on a drawing (I was drawing something simple) and the dimensions default to white with the white sheet background. How insensible is that? Please allow users to customize colors completely in the general options. Andy

If you go to tools..application options..colors tab you can select from 5+ different "color schemes" there.. You just simply have one that was intended to be used with a black idw sheet..

But yes it would be "better" to have a color scheme editor built right into Inventor and not have to use the SDK tools to gain full control over the schemes..

I wonder if this is a related thread

http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?85679-dimensions-color

Where it looked like the new user is trying to "draw" (sketch) in drawing environment as though it was AutoCAD drawing.

I suspect they have not figure out the difference between modeling and drawing yet.

I am trying to work them through the process if they will attach example files rather than just image files.

Yes, I know I could change the entire color scheme. I may install the user tools in the SDK. However, for the moment, I just changed my drawing background temporarily. Yes, I know the difference between drawing and modeling! 🙂 But in this case, I was doing a very simple cable drawing with just the model of a connector and no wiring. I wanted to simply sketch wires. HI,

I see that you did not get any useful help.

Since it was my question in the beginning and I needed to change sketch dimensioning colour because I didn't quite like scheme that Autodesk provided.

I found better way to do that than using this program User Tools. It was not as convenient as I would expect it to be.

For me easiest way and most reliable is to change registry entry.

you go to:

Current User -> Software - > autodesk - > inventor - > registry version -> system - > preferences ->Colorshems

than you check which color scheme you have set

than you go to ..-> "number of your scheme"

and change "DimensionColor" and "DrivedDimensionColor", you simply enter RGB code. I think that "DrivendimensionColor" dose not in fact have any effect. But you can try.

I checked I dose't.  I have no idea why.

I personally use: 244,0,144,1

Cris.
