Different types of threads in one iPart

Can I use diferrent types of threads (as variants), in one iPart/iFeature file, ex. M10x1.5 (ISO Metric profile) and G1/8" (ISO Pipe Threads)? Look at the file in attachment and correct it if possible, please.

Can anybody help me?

Kind Regards.

For switching from one thread type to the other in your ipart, you need to add the Thread: Class column in the ipart table, as you have done correctly, and explained in the blog post below.

http://beinginventive.typepad.com/being-inventive/2011/12/adding-a-little-class-to-threaded-iparts.h...

Unfortunately, the cell of this column cannot be empty.

So, since in your case, actually the class column for the internal ISO Pipe threads is empty, you need to do the following.

Make a backup copy of the file Thread.xls located, for instants on Windows 7 in the folder C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2012\Design Data

Edit the file and add a value for the class column for the rows where you need it.

Class1.png

Restart Inventor.

Edit the ipart table and add the value to the corresponding class cell.

Class2.png

I’m sending you back you ipart where I’ve applied this change.

It should work on your machine after you have edited the Thread.xls file of your installation as explained above and restarted Inventor.

I hope it helps.

Kind regards,

Alessandro
