I would suggest looking At a tutorial at www.sdotson.com

Have a look, and if you are still having trouble, post back.

Hi. I had to post back:-(

Didn`t find what I was looking for.

What I want to do is to make\define new materials to add to the parts in IV6 library\content library
and save it to the template file so that I can add it to library files later also.

Open your ipart or your template. Go to Format> materials. Set up your new
Material here. You can find info about alot of materials at www.matweb.com
. (The units are in Metric and you can't change that - Autodesk states that
all Material Specs are in Metric??!?) Set your rendering style if you want
and exit. Open the opposing file, and go to Format> Organizer. Browse to
the original file, select the material you want to copy, click copy, and
exit out of organizer. Your Material will be in the properties "Physical"
tab pulldown.

Is this what you wanted?

No, Sorry:-(

The "organizer" isn`t available when you try to edit a part from IV6 Library(content Library R5.3)

He told you to edit the Template, not already defined parts.
Update the catalog template and create new library parts.

Oh sorry, I misread your first post. You can't change the materials of
standard parts. You also have no way of controlling what they put in your
part list. I use iparts. Alot more versatile.
