I agree! it would have saved me countless weeks of
time trying to resolve files that I have no access to. I am very tired of
semi-isolated mode. I will be switching that to off as soon as I get my files in
order, all checked in. Oh! wait, I can't! I don't have
access........Arrrrg!

All files must be checked in and available. The project file multi-user
must be set to off. Select the highest level document (AIM or IDW)
file. Select the Manage icon in the browser. Highlight those files you
want to copy or rename, then save changes. Sub-assemblies and parts can
be renamed, the highest level assembly cannot be renamed, it must be
copied with a new name.

You must change the name of the part when copying to the same location
or select a new location to copy the part to (when keeping the same
partname).

I've opened a file in DA from the Open dialog box in Inventor. As long as
you don't have the files open in Inventor, I think this method is OK.
