I used the cut command within an assembly and it made the cut parts turn red. How can I turn this indicator off?
Thanks

What do you mean the parts turned red? Can you post a screen shot or your files?

wow...
i wonder has someone setup an iLogic rule in the file you are working on to force that behavior perhaps?
can you see the change on the ribbon menu showing the override / appearance?
1. are you sure you want to cut at assembly level (in most cases posted here the answer to that question is - No)
2. are you referring to the preview highlight (preview convention is green - add, red - subtract, blue - intersection, subtract only option available at assembly level)
3. is your part actually red when operation complete (as indicate - at least post screen shot if not actual assembly)
4. can you reproduce this behavior in a simple example assembly?

I've checked all the part colours and they are fine, none of them are red. I've changed the colour and then chosen clear override and it didn't fix it. THere's no ilogic because I'm the only person who can use that.
The red shows in the IDW drawing too.
I want to cut at assembly level because we don't want to go into so much detail of mitreing every part, they just cut it to fit in the factory.
Here's a screen shot.
#4 can you reproduce this behavior?
Assemble a box and cylinder and cut at assembly level.
I just tried and couldn't force the behavior without a lot of extra effort.
The only way I can think of forcing it is have the part red but the faces or bodies override some other color.

did you start with yor own templates?
if so can you zip them up and send them to us?
or, if you are allowed to can you do a packngo (even if you make a dumb down version of your assembly) and send it to us.
i would also like to see if there is any API code living inside any of the documents.
i can give you a confidential & secure dropbox link for just the 3 or 4 guys here now to access if you wish to keep off the main forumn.
cheers.
jamjumpin i just zapped you a private message.
the dropbox link is shown therein.
feel free to pm it to the other guys if you wish to.
Is any of the cut parts set to red color?
Thanks for all the messages, I just got a ton of work dumped on me so I won't get to look at this today.
I'll update later.
I've got to the bottom of it.
Turns out that if you click the + next to the extrusion cut I did, it shows all the parts I cut through underneath.
Inventor had randomly picked a red paint swatch and painted all the cut items with it.
In the main window everything was still showing the correct colour under the appearance drop down so I couldn't work out why it was red.
