Creating new part in assembly, existing parts not showing!

I'm sure this is a quick application settings fix. A co-worker is having issues with attempting to create a part within an assembly. When the plane is selected and he clicks on the part to beign working on it, the other parts dissapear. Works perfectly fine on my machine, when going into the new part existing parts are opaque. Does anyone know where a setting might have gotten tripped?

Toos>Application Options>Assembly tab  Active/Inactive component opacity.

I guess doing screen captures is too slow.
