I have a piece I'm having difficulty with. I need to have a plated rolled and welded into a cylinder. Then, after the welding is completed, the part will have a helical groove machined into it. (Think a round cylinder that you will wrap a rope around). How can I create this groove? I started out by making my cylinder and then a weldment to show the weld details. But I'm stuck now with the machining.
Did you draw the cylinder so your origin planes are on center?
If so start a new sketch on one of them and project the outside of the cylinder.
I've attached a picture of what I just did. Hope this is what you need.
Attach what you have completed so far along with spec information for the groove.
