Convert DXF to Inventor

I have a dxf file (3D) that want to esport to a inventor model.

I have tried to export as a IGES and STEP but they only do complex surfaces and Inventor crashes...

It is possible to export as a solid???

Do I have to use another way??? (save as a DWG...)

Open the dwg in inventor doesn't work because all is in model space and then I do not know what to do.

Open in a sketch???

Can anyone help me?

Thanks

I am confused by your use of the term "export".  I assume you mean import.  File>Open and set Options.

See http://au.autodesk.com/?nd=class&session_id=3056

or attach your dxf file here.

In any case you should not be seeing a crash.

Does your DXF file contain any solid informaiton or just surfaces?

You need to attach your DXF file here...

MY FIRST QUESTION IS ALWAYS GOING TO BE which version are you using. A very important piece of information, which could alter the answer.

I'm trying to attach the file but the problem is the size.

I would save the individual parts as IGES files in Mechanical to open in Inventor. 1 part = 1 file  just like the real world

That geometry isn't going to be of much use in Inventor as it is coursely faceted surfaces (and a lotttt of them).

I would probably just use as reference and start over modeling as solids.
