We recently received new computers for our Design department and we are having a few problems. When changing part sizes in content center (custom parts and standard parts) Inventor crashes every time. We can change part sizes with no problems with the older computers that we are using. This leads me to believe that Inventor doesn’t like something about the newer CPU.
Here are the System Specs:

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? I would appreciate any help you might be able to give me. I’m running out of ideas to fix this.
Is your CC on your local or on a network? Are you using Vault at all?

Hi jddickson,
Sometimes when a new machine is setup we forget about the updates. Do you have all the service packs & hotfixes for your version of Inventor installed?
I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis

What about the location of your CC? Network or local?
Are the settings on the new machine the exact same as the old ones?

We have all the service packs for the computers and Inventor is up to date. We are going to reboot the server with Vault on and see if it helps anything (also going to make sure that our Vault has the latest service pack).
Cc is located on our Vault and we only have one Project file for the whole company. Everything seems to be set up exactly the same as the old ones (going to try to do a little more digging to make sure).
I appreciate everyone’s quick responses.
We have a 3rd party software that works with inventor (it an iProperty manager) and the newer CPUs have an updated version of it on their systems. That is the only differences I can find between them. I’m going to try to uninstall it and try the older version…
Make sure the Vault Workgroup Client software is at the same level as your Vault Workgroup Server (ADMS) software. I had similar issues back with 2013 until I realized my server was not at the same level as my new clients.
I'm also running Vault Workgroup 2014 and both the client and server are at "Build 18.1.8.0 Update 1". I've attached screen shots for the heck of it.

Try removing this, i had a lot of trouble a while back with frame generator not inserting the frame members. We were using a 3rd party iProperties program that forced us to enter some of the iProperties before the new part/assembly was inserted. I cant remember the name of the iProperties program because it was removed a while back now, but it had a little round gauge to show how much of the iProperties had been entered.
Once removed everything worked fine.
It was a shame because it was a handy little plugin.
I had two ID's as well for the vault. One for the everyday user and one for the administrator side of things.
We had our CC located on the network and the only CC files that were in the vault were the ones inserted into assemblies once checked in.
Not the entire CC. I am guessing this is the same case for you. If you go to application options under the "File" tab it will show you where your CC is located.
As far as the third party software, I would try and disable it instead of uninstalling it for starters. Or upgrade just one of the older machines and see if it gives you the same results. What is the purpose of this third party software anyway? I ask because I am wondering if what ever it is doing can be accomplished in other ways like iLogic or whatever.
