Cant open drawings from 2011 inventor to 2010

Is there a way I can download 2011inventor files to a 2010 inventor?

My school use 2010inventor, but I have 2011 Inventor. My professor say that we need it 2010 but Im trying to download it but it says File cant be found. So I have to turn in 24 drawings in 5 days and I only have 2011.

Today at school I tried to open at file that I saved on my flas drive the night before and when I tried to open it it says some type a message saying It could not open it because it was a newer version or something like that.

Any advice please?

Hi Martin5a,

Appreciate your report and a workaround I think for this scenario is save your 2011 version files as a neutral format firstly, such as STEP or IGES, then open it in Autodesk Inventor 2010.

Hi Martin,

Open those idw file in Inventor 2011, save copy them as AutoCAD Drawing (*.dwg) file format. The dwg files can be opened in Inventor 2010, but there's no reference to the base *.ipt or *.iam files.

Thanks,

Evan
