We use several parts with Imates.
If we create an extrusion that interferes with one of these Imates, we get an error message and the extrusion is not created. In previous versions we were able to right click and delete the Imates. But it seems this is no longer possible in 2014!
Is there a new way around this issue?
I have no problem deleting imates in 2014..
But none of mine are "used".
Are you trying to delete them at the part level (aka not inside and assembly)?
Are any of your imates being "used" in an assembly?
I am trying to delete an imate inside a "child" part.
Once I bring the child into my assembly whether the imate is "used" or not I can not delete it.
If I add an extrusion that interferes with the imates, Inventor won't let the extrusion be created. And I get an error message.
Before 2014, I'd just right click and delete the Imate. And then I'd be able to complete the the extrusion.
Can you post a sample file that shows this problem?
Can you delete the imate if you open the IPT file..?
Imates/extrusions have nothing to do with each other..
I just dropped a screw that has some imates for placement into an iam file.. created an extrusion and it cut right through where the imate is with no problems..
do you mean ifeature or something else maybe?
Here is the part I was trying to modify.
I left a sketch on the part that I was trying to extrude.
Has anybody tried to extrude the sketch on my part? (with Inventor 2014)
I'm still struggling with these Iparts.
Derived iMates can't be edited/deleted. They are controlled by the derived object. It is necessary to edit the derived component and exclude the iMates from derive. In case of iParts it is necessary to edit the iPart table the exclude the iMates for the given iPart member part.
Thanks,
Csaba
Is this new to Inventor 2013/2014? I've deleted derived Imates a BUNCH of times before our upgrade. This seems like an odd thing to change during an upgrade.........
