Break the links between 2D IDW and 3D models

As we know that a fixed electronic drawing should be kept as a permanent backup. However a 3D models shall be used in other designs. The corresponding 2D IDW will be changed if the 3D models are changed. Is there a method to break the links between 2D IDW and 3D models in IV5.3?

Saving as DWG or DXF is a good one. However the fonts shall be changed sometime.

Although IV6 can update 2D IDW manually, it is still not convinient.

Is there anyone having programs to make a 2D IDW lone?

Thanks

Print to PDF.

R6 has a break links option called defer updates

Thank you.

I do print to PDF with Fineprinter. However I have not Inventor 6 in my system now.
