Bored and would like some opinions on save-as dwg

I have been using IV since R4. We have purchased two seats of Proe for use with one of our largest customers. I have been using Proe quite frequently lately and have found something I feel is kinda strange.

When ever I save-as a dwg from IV, In paper space the text for my notes are enlarged abd the rest seems to work fine. In model space everything is everywhere, notes, views and BOM. When I save out an SAT file from IV and import into MDT, it always comes in rotated 90 deg on the "X" axis (I believe.

Now when I sav-as a DWG file from ProE, The drawing comes into AutoCAD in the Model sapce and everyting is as it should be. When I save out an SAT file from Proe and ikmport it into MDT, it snaps right in to o,o,o in the same ucs as the default AutoCAD.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm an advid IV user and would prefer none other. But I have had to try and learn this other program and I find it amazing that some other software can export to AutoCAD better than Autodesk software.

Go figure. Ok, time to go home. Have a great night, if you are still out there at this time 🙂

You mean IV and AutoCAD don't talk
to one another correctly 😉

You would think that the same
company could get a smooth translation from one to the other programs better
than the competition.

Maybe IV Pro will solve that
;)

I was told that one organization worked on the IV
modeler and another in another city worked on the drawing module. It sure shows.
I wonder how many of the ones that worked on the drawing module had much
experience with AutoCAD and whether they were located far from those that
did.

It's amazing to me that with all of the pleading,
beatings, and insults that this newsgroup (me included) has given Autodesk on
this issue, they still haven't fixed this problem.

Some truth exists to that. Assembly was done in Novi, parts in Portland, and drawings were done by the old CV group in SD. Guys like Gary and Kevin moved from one location to another though so it wasn't like "throw it over the wall." I think the real reason was the original product intent wasn't to handle dwg data. The SD office is gone and so is the Product Manager who didn't think dwg data was important.

A lot have changes have been made to reconcile these short comings. I don't know if they will be successful or not but more acad expertise is now involved with drawing manager.

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way. Maybe someday 🙂 By the way, how do you actually get seperated paragraphs in this exploder.....I have never been able to do that. Just curious........MikeG

Hows things going Mike. Feeling good about this fall weather we're having!

To do a carriage return you do "<" followed by "br" followed by ">". Its just html, you can juse html codes to change text size and fonts etc. Heck you could embed backgrounds and everything else.

Ahhhh........

Lets see if this works. I am not much up on HTML stuff....

If you see a lot of "<" "br's" "<", its because I wasan't sure if I put it on the end of the sentance, or after you do a return.........

So I'm just feeling it out.

The weather is great, I love heat. Trying to obtain a position somewhere near Las Vegas.......Now that's heat 🙂

Mike, surely you must be mistaken.... everyone
knows that Autodesk Inventor provides
the "industry's best DWG compatibility."
