Bolted Connection- holes-pattern

Hello everybody,

I have two plates fastened by a bolted connection.

I have not created any Holes at part level.

The holes which are created in both the plates using

bolted connection feature do not get patterned when

I pattern the applied bolted connection.

Please find the attached assembly.

Am I expecting too much from bolted connection, or missing something

I know there is a "on point " option which can give me 2 different holes in a

go.

Well may be. The patterns with the Bolted connection work best when one of the parts has the holes patterned in it like say your bracket. Then using the BC you can select from hole and select follow pattern. Note when selecting the hole select the parent hole in the pattern and any updates will happen with the pattern. Then the holes will be transferred back to the parts. If you’re using assembly features (for the Holes) then it will not work as outlined or as you wish.

I am aware about the method of creating hole patterns

at part level and using that hole pattern to place BC.

But using BC and  in return getting the holes at part level will be more

logical error free design method. (alignment perspective)

If BC's first instance can create a hole at assembly level

and propogate it to the part level(current release).

Can we extend this concept in a new command, say "BC pattern" in future release.

where the holes will be patterned and propogated at part level.

This will save designers lot of time and reduce errors. This will

also replicate the manufacturing process during the designing stage.

I have logged an enhancement request with development team to have the BC patterned holes to be propagated to the part level.

I'm having a similar issue - if I create a hole pattern at the assembly level using an exisiting hole, it does not recognize the pattern when creating the bolted connection, so the "fill pattern" feature does not work.
