Bolted Connection Custom Content

Hi guys,

I've been setting up all our standard fasters in the content centre. I'm now trying to test the Bolted Connection feature, So far all is well, I can utilise our Nuts and Bolts however I can't select our Washers on the "Select Fastener" dialogue box. When I filter by our Standard it shows nothing, When I filter by All, it shows a whole bunch of washers (But not all of the ones included in content centre). What determines whether a fastener will be displayed in the "Select Fastener" dialogue box? I've tried everything I can think of with no luck.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm using Inventor 2010 Suite SP1 and Windows XP x64 SP2.

Regards

Gerrard

Hello Gerrard,

Could you check if you have appropriate size in your Washer family. The
Bolted Connection use the bolt diameter as a parameter for filtering - it
means, if you dont have appropriate washer size in family then BC displays
empty dialog.

you can either add a new washer size or change bolt diameter in BC dialog.

next tips:
- check what thread standard you have selected
- check if your washer is not in other category - BC ignor this category
- check parameters maping (when you publish the washer)

regards

Hi all,

Hate to dig up this old thread, but I'm having this problem again... I've got 2 styles of washers I would like to use in Bolted Connections, but only one style appears in the dialogue box. I've tried all the suggestions I've found so far, but I'm not having any luck. I even tried making a copy of the family that was working, but the copied family didn't work.

Has anyone got any suggestions??

Im having a similar problem.

Ive authoured a bolt, nut and washer into content centre (used bolt nut and washer from existing content that works in the BCgen)

I can add the bolt and the washer, however, the nut will not show up in the selection box.

People are discussing on this and other threads about the filters using thread type and size.

However they do not indicate how inventor 'sees' the size and the type...is there a specific paramater that needs mapping, if so what is it?

I know this is an old thread, but has anyone found a solution?  I have custom cc parts that work great but the nuts do not appear in the bolted connection generator.  I know it's not an odd size, Im thinking its a cc issue.  Ive followed several threads, but have not seen the solution.  Autodesk?

What work flow did you use to create your custom nut parts?  Did you copy an existing one to your custom library and modify?  Would you be able to post screen shots of the family properties screens?

When you are trying to use these parts, have you already placed a bolt and washer?

Check that your THREADDIA collumn in your table isn't filled with an expression. It has to be filled in manually, otherwise you'll get an error regarding the family table.

And of course, check if you're working in the right project where the custom library is declared, but that would be too obvious Smiley Happy

In addition to this, also make sure that all collumns with expressions are no longer 'black' but expressed, in blue. This also could be a reason for not showing up in the Bolted Connection ...
