Autodesk usage data collection...how to disable

upgraded to 2014 got a message on splash screen saying this was happening.

Option to disable mentioned, but opting out isn't obvious?

Could anyone help with how to disable it please?

Many thanks.

Help icon in the top right, click the arrow to bring down the menu then select 'customer involvement program' 🙂

That's why you do not see that option in the same location, this is the Autodesk Inventor forum which is no where near like Acad or Acad Lt.

You may have better luck posting over in the AutoCAD LT forum;

For the person who was asking this about the autocad 2015 lt version, I finally figured this out by typing DESKTOPANALYTICS into the command line.  I could not find this solution in the autocad forums that were linked above by ampster.  This may or may not work for other autodesk programs, but they sure seem to be hiding this option more and more.  I simply do not want my data collected.

Autocad Arhitecture 2017:

New notification on startup about data use and collection.  I dont necessarily want to disable the collection and use of my data just want the notification to go away on every startup.

Something to do with desktop analytics?

Smajon, I had the same question.  I read the above information in this thread.  I thought it was a miss to my question.

I then dug around in AutoCad and selected Desktop Analytics from the Help arrow down.

A pop up appeared, similar to the one at startup.  Only difference there is a radio button with the statement: "Yes, I would like to take part in the data collection" (paraphrased)

Uncheck the box, your worries are over.

It still does not fix it.  Everyday i have to click okay on customer involvement dialog.

A couple things to check.

 C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\MC3 open the file ProdInd_UserDep.mc3 with Notepad.

 Also in the Windows Registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\MC3

ADARePrompted should be set to 1 so you don't see the dialog on startup, changing it 0 will cause the dialog to come up again.

ADAOptIn should be set to 0 to disable the data collection

Thanks,

Danny

Danny,

Thank you for your help, but I just realized this in the Inventor category, and Im using Autocad Architecture.

I have Inventor 2019 and can't find these files.  Every time I open Inventor it automatically enables data collection and I have to turn it off.  Is there another way to disable the data collection permanently?

To see the folders at AppData or below you need to change Windows Explorer options to show hidden files or folders. This however would have no impact on accessing the Windows registry key.

If you uncheck the option in Inventor then it is renabled on restart, it sounds like your system settings have been changed to prevent you from saving the MC3 file to the folder or that registry key.

Thanks,

Danny

Thank you, it helps!

Under Linux the path is:

home/user_name/.autodesk/UD/Autodesk/MC3

Below registry will disable Data Collection and use prompt..

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\MC3]
"OverridedByHKLM"=dword:00000000
"ADAOptIn"=dword:00000001
"ADARePrompted"=dword:00000001

Message 18 of 20

Nope, this will do the opposite and actually enable Data Collection 😉

Do you or anyone else know how to disable this Data Collection via the registry for 2024 products? Still having the same issue. Trying to use HKCU\Software\Autodesk\MC3, ADAOptIn Dword = 0, ADARePrompted Dword = 1. Doesn't seem to work.
