Autodesk Material Library

Hello there,

when importing Inventor *.iam and *.ipt to MAXDesign13 (i´m almost there)

i noticed Max only imports Autodesk standard library materials right. The

user materials aren´t imported.

Is it possible to add my user materials to the Autodesk material library?

Or is there another way to do it?

Kind regards

Daniel

Daniel,

I may be missing something from your question, but Max Design 2013, seems to import all of my materials from my Inventor 2013 models, including Autodesk Materials, Inventor Materials and Custom Document Materials.  From and Inventor 2012 model however, Max Design doesn't import the materials quite as well.  If you are using the material browser (2013) instead of the style and standard library (2012 and previous) I think your materials should import.

Derek

Hello Derek,

that´s the point. It seems that everyone on the web has a perfectly working Inventor to Max workflow,

but that does not apply for me.

As curious as it may sound - when i Save a dwg in Inventor, reopen the dwg in Inventor and save it

as a stp file, Max get´s all the materials apart from textures :S.

I´m a little confused. Importing a iam in Max with the as mesh option activated imports all the Materials

and textures apart from a blue i did which is the main colour in the scene.

I already thought about replacing the blue tone for the sake of easy handling, but there would be no peace of mind... there has to be a way to get Max to import this right 😉

What makes me curious is the fact step transfer handles the blue tone right.

Best wishes

Daniel

Daniel,

I am unable to reproduce this issue in my environment with models.  Have you tried importing a single part that uses that blue color rather than the assembly.  I wouldn't think it would make a difference but it is something I would try.  Is there a part that contains that material that you can attach/send so I can try your part and your custom material in my environment?

Derek

Hello Derek,

if don´t mind to take a look, i´d be glad to send you a dataset.

I bet it´s a rather stupid error.

Would you mind to send me your e-mail adress. the models are rather big

when the libraries are included in a pack and go.

Thanks for your help
