Autodesk Inventor within Teamcenter

My company won't spring for vault but my customer requires us to use Inventor.  I don't mind as I've never used NX but the only database that I can access is TeamCenter.  I was wondering if anyone has done this and if there's any advice.  I've never used any of the databases for modeling programs and my gut says an ADSK product works better w/ another ADSK product.  However I don't have the option.

Vault Basic comes with Inventor.

Aside from that, though, is there some specific reason that you feel you need to use Vault?  I've found it to be "somewhat less than helpful" I guess is the most professional way to describe it.  If I were to express my true feelings about Vault, the profanity filters would  certainly kick in.
