Autodesk Inventor Wish List

We'd like to invite you to participate in a survey to gather wish list
requirements to influence future development of Autodesk Inventor. This
survey is now available online at
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=81246328444 until 12/9/03. The first
round of information gathered will help develop a current user wish list.
In the second round of the survey, you will prioritize this list by voting
on your top items. We hope this will be the beginning of an official
Autodesk Inventor wish list.

Mine too ... had to leave for a bit so I checked to see if it would go back

I don't mean to (edited), but this sounds distinctly like
something AUGI is doing for Autocad.
http://66.221.49.176/surveys/wishlist2003.asp?page=329

There's nowt wrong with pinching a good idea - I'd encourage it, but the outcome
give me some concern.

Will Autodesk only be selecting the most popular ideas for inclusion into Inv9
irrespective of how good/useful they are ?
Will Autodesk consider all ideas submitted ?
Will Autodesk only include the BIG ideas that can go on the box and in sales
literature or will the little ideas be included ?

Canvassing users ideas must be considered positively, but will Autodesk go down
a popularist route ? What is wrong with considering ALL wishes, as is currently
the case ? Why limit it to the top ten ?

Whilst applauding Autodesk's move to listen to its customers, I do council
caution.

When IV Pro was introduced, there was a long thread where many of us
expressed our frustration.

One of the points brought up was that IV went off in directions that
were of questionable use to the users while ignoring our wishes.

I'm viewing this survey, as well as the increased participation and
response by IV developers on this newsgroup, as evidence that Autodesk
did listen to our concerns.

We're being given an opportunity to steer IV in a positive direction.

Let's use it wisely.

My first wish would be to see everyone else's (anonymized) list while the survey is open. This would help jog peoples' memories for their own list and also to 'vote no' against the more harebrained suggestions.

I think your wrong in assuming that any of the ideas submitted on this list
will be included in r9 or any version for that matter.

Why?

I've seen suggestions from the NG included in R8.

Now there's even a "wish list", so why shouldn't suggestions be included?

I didn't say they shouldn't. All I'm saying is don't get your hopes up.

What suggestions listed on this group have made their way into IV?

Window and crossing window of idw entities to suppress visability. There might be others. Does the past performance matter more than the future performance? I have noticed an increased presence of Inventor developers here and I, for one, am encouraged by it.

Zoom centred around the cursor.
Restoring browser re-order in assemblies (thank you).
Asking for our input in the first place.

I don't expect all of our suggestions to be in R9, but some will and
others perhaps in subsequent releases.

Better some than none.
