Autodesk Inventor Expert Certification...

Hello everyone. I had a quick question. I am seriously looking into getting my certification. I've been using Inventor since R2, but I was privileged to preview Inventor when it was code named RUBICON. My question is, for all the user in this NG, how many have been certified? And, is it worth it?

Thanks,

Leonard from CANADA

What would make it "worth it" for you?

Job security? Money?

I love 3D. Been doing it for years. Started doing 3D in AutoCAD (AME), then to MDT, now Inventor. I also have some experience with CATIA, Solidwork, Solid Edge and NX4.

But I prefer Inventor over everything else.

I don't know how job security or money is improved through certification unless your company has a policy rewarding certification.

In my case I occasionally teach classes for an Autodesk Authorized Training Center (ATC) and am required to take a certification test each year. (As it happens I just completed the 2008 Partner Service Exam (PSE) yesterday. Interestingly one question had two correct answers and one question that I think should have been an easy modeling question I worked on for 2 hrs and never got the possible answer choice. Didn't see any link to report these.) I believe the PSE is targeted to ATC and VAR instructors is at

There is another certification track that has three steps

The exam for 2008 is not available yet but I think I saw somewhere here that it is on the way.

The exams are not trivial.

Bottom line, certification lets others know that you knew enough to pass the
test.

Your skill level and actual expertise in 3D modeling is the best job
security that you possess.

I am currently looking at moving to a new company, and during the interview, they had asked if I would be willing to work towards certification. Now, I have thought about it before but currently where I work, it wasn't really a need.

I guess I should have asked"

1. What advantages does being a certified expert give you?

Aside the fact that others would know that you know your stuff? And you'd get respect from this NG?

I'm not really looking for money, glory or power. LOL I was curious to see how many NG users are certified.
