Assembly files showing up differently on LAN

Me and my colleagues have occationally had a problem in the past with working with assemblies on a lan network. the problem we encounter is opening the same file on different computer and seeing a different assembly.

The differences are not due to design views. The differences include blown up assemblies and missing constraints. We have noticed that differences in project may sometimes be to blame, maybe due to duplicate files. However in this case I am confident there are no duplicate files on the server.

I would be very grateful if someone with similar experiences could shed some light on the problem for me.

This is most likely due to duplicate files and/or incorrectly formatted
project files, referencing the same part name in different folders.
Inventor will take the FIRST part with a similar name and never find the
next.

For reference, please look at the Project File documentation on your
Invventor CD in the documentation folder. A shorter version that was
